What is a "medium" skintone?

We are of Irish descent. My father is olive skinned/dark, my mother is average white(definitely not pale or pasty). Ive been told i have a "medium skintone" to go along with my brown hair and very blue eyes. what exactly is this? Is that like a mix of my fathers and mothers, because i am darker then my mother and lighter then my dad... but what is medium
